Please register using the form below. Participants will discover the dynamics of painting with water using a wet-on-wet technique. They will practice the process of improvisation with the materials—the act of painting with water forces us to loosen up—to free ourselves, clear our minds and build a picture as we work. We’ll talk about action and reaction, spontaneity, improvisation, and alchemy. The workshop will help us decompress, release, relax and enjoy the state of abstraction—what it means to experience certain kinds of physical and formal relations and to create dynamic compositions that are not preconceived. I encourage the pure enjoyment of experimentation and creating spontaneous and rich effects that the combination of water, watercolors and India inks are known for.
Workshop sessions run 2.5 hours
Open to all skill levels, 13 years of age or older
If time permits - participants will be invited to share about their creations
Artworks will need to dry overnight, please provide an appropriate space for drying
These workshops are actions towards improved health and well-being. The arts are powerful and effective tools to enable a sense of release and recovery from stress and trauma. I focus on meaningful and empathic interactions to reduce negative symptoms of trauma. Through these workshops we will create space to clear our minds while we reduce isolation and encourage the joy of creating. Our goal is to exercise our innate creativity and build confidence in our own personal expressions.
Materials we will use: Recycled specialty paper, India ink, watercolors, sumi ink brushes in multiple sizes, ink droppers, small ink palette trays and water containers.
